The situation in Gaza is heartbreaking, with families facing unimaginable losses. Loved ones are being taken away, leaving behind a void that can never be filled.
The bombardments and violence since October 7 have resulted in the deaths of 38,664 people and injuries to 89,000 more. Tragically, 70% of the injured have been women and children.
The health system in Gaza, once a lifeline for many, is now in ruins. A staggering 84% of health facilities have been damaged or destroyed, leaving people with nowhere to turn for medical help.
Not only that, the attacks have tragically led to the loss of 727 healthcare professionals and injuries to more than 900 others. Additionally, approximately 130 ambulances have been destroyed, severely disrupting emergency medical services.
The situation is dire, with people dying because there is no medical care available. The remaining hospitals are overwhelmed, operating far beyond their capacity. This overcrowding means that the quality and safety of health services are severely compromised.
More children have been reported killed in the war raging in Gaza than in four years of conflict around the world.
This loss is more than just numbers; it represents countless stories of families torn apart and dreams shattered.
In addition, the hospital bed capacity has been lost while the demand for medical care soars, making it impossible to provide proper treatment.
Children are suffering immensely in this crisis. Beyond the shock and trauma, many children are in critical condition, needing urgent medical care. The horrors they face include severe injuries that often require amputations.
Due to the dire lack of medical equipment, these procedures are frequently carried out without anesthesia, inflicting unimaginable pain and suffering on these young and innocent victims.
The little medical equipment available is almost depleted, leaving healthcare workers with minimal resources to treat these children properly. Their suffering is compounded by the constant fear and instability surrounding them.
The impact on those with chronic illnesses is particularly severe. About 350,000 people in Gaza live with chronic diseases. Shortages of essential medications and the closure of health care facilities make it nearly impossible for these individuals to receive the care they need.
Mental health is also a growing concern. The relentless bombardments, displacement, and loss of homes and livelihoods have taken a heavy toll on the mental well-being of the population. The destruction of the only specialized treatment center in Gaza has left people without access to essential mental health services.
This crisis is a profound humanitarian tragedy. Families are not just losing their homes and loved ones; they are losing their future.
We must recognize the depth of this suffering and work towards providing the necessary aid and support to help the people of Gaza rebuild their lives.
✨ The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said,
“The parable of the believers in their affection, mercy, and compassion for each other is that of a body. When any limb aches, the whole body reacts with sleeplessness and fever.”
(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 6011)
While we may not be able to end the horrors they face, we cannot turn a blind eye to the suffering of our brothers and sisters any longer. We cannot stand idly by as they endure unimaginable pain with nowhere to turn.
How long can they continue to live under these unbearable conditions?
In the midst of this devastation, SEMA has stepped in to provide much-needed medical assistance. The Al Nuseirat Hospital, operated by SEMA in Gaza, is dedicated to treating the injured and providing immediate medical attention to those in desperate need.
Despite the overwhelming challenges, the medical team at Al Nuseirat Hospital works tirelessly to save lives and alleviate suffering.
However, the need is immense, and SEMA cannot do it alone. We urgently appeal to you to donate and bring relief to those suffering in Gaza.
